While Microsoft Dynamics Ax is a direct fit for discrete manufacturing products like Apparel, Retail etc. It is not the same when it comes to the multi dimension market. It is really a challenge. The Innovites solution is something that aims at offering an out of the box solution that will help fit this multi dimensional products in to the inventory model of Dynamics Ax. Whenever I go for a customer demo i try to align my data with their portfolio. It can be tedious if we try to create the entire data again. What i do is I smartly rename all the existing items instead of recreating the data. Ax has a handy option that lets you do this easily. Through this option you can even rename primary key’s not just item Id. Watch the video below to understand more.
The Microsoft Dynamics Channel is buzzing with new upload these days. Here is a list of series of videos that were uploaded recently related to Dynamics Ax
In the Dimension group setup there is on options “Coverage plan by dimension”
This dimension setup decides how issues are grouped based on dimensions
But just this setup wouldn’t be enough to achieve grouping when you run the scheduling engine.
Make sure you also setup the “Coverage code” in the Item Coverage group to “Period”. If this setup is not done then you will still find issues getting created individually or based on Min Max
Once you have both in place, then the grouping starts working based on the “coverage plan by dimension” setup.
